LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) is a rating system for the design, construction and operation of high performance buildings. Under LEED, buildings accumulate points for things such as sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy & atmosphere.

LEED is an internationally recognized certification system intended to provide building owners and operators a framework of strategies increasing performance, reducing waste and improving the quality of life.

Independence Tube will be happy to assist our customers in earning LEED credits for their projects. Independence Tube is not a manufacturer of the steel used in making our tubular products. We must obtain from our steel mill sources the LEED information you are requesting. In order to assist us in the gathering of the information, please refer to the following guidelines.

  • We must have the heat number that is listed on our material test report. The heat number is used to identify our steel mill source which we will need to obtain your required information.
  • If you are able to supply us with a valid heat number, the documentation we will provide will show: producing steel mill, type of melting furnace process, % recycled content, % post-consumer content and % post-industrial content of that particular heat of steel.
  • Independence Tube will not be able to provide information showing where the raw materials were extracted or harvested.
  • If you are unable to furnish the appropriate heat number, Independence Tube will not be able to furnish any information.

Please inform us of any LEED requirements at the time of order placement so that we can have the necessary information available when you need it. Since we need to obtain the information from another source, this process may take a day or two to complete.
