Traditional rectangles have the weld seam running along one of the larger dimensions of the rectangle. For example, on a 6" x 2" rectangle, the weld is on one of the 6" dimensions. In some fabricating applications, the weld seam inhibits punching or bending. Independence Tube does have the capability to place the weld seam on the smaller of the two rectangle dimensions (6" x 2" with the weld seam on the 2" dimension) or the "short side."
Our Chicago, Marseilles and Decatur divisions have the capability to produce some sizes with the weld seam on the "short side."
